The course is offered over a period of nine months, and provides students with a solid understanding of the main topics in development studies. In this way, those wishing to change their career path or develop within their present profession can benefit from the training in development studies that the Diploma provides.
Alternatively, the Diploma acts as a conversion course for students without sufficient previous training who wish to take the Master of Development studies.
The Graduate Diploma consists of seven courses and students are admitted on a competitive basis of past academic records, and performance in qualifying examinations, comprising of a written test and an interview.
The minimum requirement for eligibility to seek admission into the MDS is a bachelor degree or its equivalent and 7 (seven) points, with no more than one third division in any public examination, calculated as follows:
The student’s academic performances in the courses, save and except the computer applications, will be evaluated through assessed coursework and end-programme written examination, former comprises 30 per cent weightage while the rest is allocated for end-programme written examinations.
Letter grades shall be used to assess the performance of a student, in which A, B+, B, C+, C, D+ and D are considered passing grades while “F” is the failing grade. The numerical equivalence of the grades is similar to that of the MDS programme.
